Taken from a book collaborated by myself, Sharon Coody and Michael Smith - The Twelve Profitable Laws of the Universe

While doing research for this book, there was a basic consensus of what the twelve universal laws are and then there are many optional lists. One writer we researched even wrote about the 12 Universal Laws and the 21 Sub Laws. No wonder people can be confused!!

What about when you are trying to share and grow with another individual or group of people and you are working from the assumption that you are on the same wave length. I bet if you asked them, you would find out their list of Universal Laws are not the same as yours. Our objective was to simplify the concepts and to provide simple, practical ways to apply these concepts to make our lives what we want them to be. For each of the twelve laws, we have included specific questions, suggestions, and exercises to help you achieve YOUR goals, both spiritual and physical, with regard to the activities and situations in your life which are governed by that law.

The Eight Law: The Law of Transmutation

The Law of Transmutation is also known as the Law of PERPETUAL Transmutation. Basically, this law states that absolutely everything is energy and that energy is constantly in motion.

From that physical science class back in sixth or seventh grade, we learned that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be transformed. We also learned mass can be transformed to energy and energy can be transformed to mass. There are many forms of physical energy, from heat, to light, to kinetic (movement) to metabolic, etc. Energy changes from one form to another. An example might be light energy stored in a plant. Then the fruit of the plant is eaten and becomes metabolic energy. We use that energy to walk, converting it to kinetic energy. This conversion of energy is perpetual and cyclical. Additionally we know that everything IS energy. Even thoughts and emotions are energy.

O.K., that said, this universal, spiritual law is about the transformation of energy. In the physical world, some transformations are reversible and some are non-reversible. In non-reversible transformations, the energy is dissipated (spread out) and cannot be returned to a more concentrated form.

A common theory among metaphysisists concerns the relationship between the seen (physical) world and the unseen (metaphysical) world. It is believed that the physical word mirrors the metaphysical world. Some examples are the senses we use to take in information, the physical systems we could not “see” and then learned to recognize using microscopes and telescopes (and the extrapolation of the properties of this solar system to others).

If this is so, it explains the belief that transmutation is a one-directional law, a non-reversible transformation of energy.

The Law of Transmutation of Energy puts forth that higher vibrations change lower vibrations. Further, the “transformation” is not reversible nor is it possible for transmutation to take place in the reverse: low vibrational energy cannot change into higher vibrations.

It is through the Law of Transmutation that we have hope for the world! “Light” can and does transmute “dark.” Beginning with the microcosm that each of us is, we can use this law to change our own smaller and more personal worlds. We do this by applying principles of harmony when situations are discordant, when we forgive ourselves and others, when we see others as spiritual beings and hold love in our hearts for them, when we hold thoughts of gratitude, when we shift our thoughts (and therefore our emotions), letting go of low vibrational attitudes of fear, anger, resentment, blame, etc. and replacing these with higher vibrational attitudes and thoughts.

From this change in thought begins the transmutation of the energy within and around us. The preponderance of thought is transmuted into material or physical existence. Thoughts that are not congruent with our core beliefs are discarded; passing thoughts lack focus; and thoughts that are more frequent or represent core beliefs will cancel others. Stated another way, it is as if our subconscious mind has a built in scale. It sorts our thoughts. Those associated with core beliefs and other similar thoughts get put on one side of the scale. Fleeting, passing, and incongruent thoughts go on the other side of the scale. The fist side is “weighty”….with importance and consequence. These have a lot of energy and transmute into physical form. The second side of the scale is “light.” It is inconsequential. It is “outweighed” and canceled by the preponderance of thoughts that are both congruent and focused on.

Thoughts are not the only way to shift (transmute) the energy around us. Light is energy. Light and color play a big role. Have you ever gone to your closet and chosen something red or orange because you felt a bit tired or “lackluster” and needed “more energy” to cheer you up?

More than thirty years ago I went to a study group, similar to some of the “meetups” that are popular today. In this group we conducted an experiment, which I have repeated many times since. Take various pieces of colored construction paper. Make sure the colors are vibrant and represent at least all three primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) plus the secondary colors (orange, green and purple). Place a full glass of water on each piece of paper. Make sure the glass is clear and the water in each glass is from the same source. Wait 4 to 6 hours. Then taste the water in each glass. You may be surprised they all taste differently! The energy from each color affected the water in the glass placed on that paper.

This is an illustration of how color can help transmute the frequencies (vibrations) of things around us as well as our own feelings and emotions. Light blue is often used to engender feelings of relaxation and calmness in medical and mental health clinics. Pink is used to bring about feelings of caring, love and connection.

Crystals also vibrate at different frequencies. Placing different types of crystals in our environment will also change the energy within a room and the emotions of people in that room.

The Law of Transmutation could be called the law of perpetually changing energy. To influence and manage the changes and the outcomes they precipitate, we need only start with our own thoughts. As energy, changing thoughts changes what we manifest. Since EVERYTHING is energy, any change in an environment, any change in thought, and any change in action changes the energy around that issue, situation, or place. Focusing on intentional changes allows us to transmute energy into higher frequencies of love, joy, wonder, happiness, spiritual awareness and connection.
