Taken from a book collaborated by myself, Sharon Coody and Michael Smith - The Twelve Profitable Laws of the Universe

While doing research for this book, there was a basic consensus of what the twelve universal laws are and then there are many optional lists. One writer we researched even wrote about the 12 Universal Laws and the 21 Sub Laws. No wonder people can be confused!!

What about when you are trying to share and grow with another individual or group of people and you are working from the assumption that you are on the same wave length. I bet if you asked them, you would find out their list of Universal Laws are not the same as yours. Our objective was to simplify the concepts and to provide simple, practical ways to apply these concepts to make our lives what we want them to be. For each of the twelve laws, we have included specific questions, suggestions, and exercises to help you achieve YOUR goals, both spiritual and physical, with regard to the activities and situations in your life which are governed by that law.

The Fourth Law: Law of Correspondence

The Law of Correspondence tells us that our outer world is nothing more than a reflection of our inner world – as within, so without. This is an extraordinary principle showing that our current reality is a mirror of what is going on inside us. The Law of Correspondence states that the principles or formula of physics that rationalize the physical world (energy, Light, vibration, and motion) have parallel rules in the universe: "As above, so below" "As within, so without" or "Whatever is above is like that which is below, and whatever is below is like that which is above". There is a direct link between inner feelings and thoughts and the outward actions and physical senses experienced. The outer life is a reflection of the inner life. All connections indeed every aspect of life, your relationships, health, wealth are reflections a physical manifestation of your inner world.

I am sure that with very little thought you could picture someone or even self where this law and its rules are visible. Pick a room that you are familiar with, one in which you invest substantial time. Take a moment and recall the room, breathe in the energy, feel the furniture, see the room. The first word that entered you consciousness (neat, clean, pretty, cluttered, dirty, messy, organized, functional, friendly, sensual) is your inner self materialized in the outer world. Boiled down to the basic, this law affirms, as it is on the inside so shall it be on the outside. The environment in which we live mirrors back exactly our internal atmosphere. The physical / outer world corresponds with the thoughts, beliefs, and feelings held on the inside. Our friends, job, circumstances all are a reflection of soul / spirit / essence, which is what we are on the inside.

The concept of correspondence is very difficult for many to understand for the simple fact that it requires the individual to identify that which is within them that they may wish to change, alter or improve. Society teaches blame, justification and conformity reducing individual ownership which in this law eliminates the application of conscious action. It is far easier to blame everyone else for what we don’t like in our lives however the truth is, you are the only one that creates your world. Consider your friends, are they genuinely happy, fun to be around, do they light up the room, do they inspire you or are they angry, short tempered, judgmental, or flighty? The inevitable conclusion once viewed from the lens of this law is that on a subconscious level you believe those are the friends you deserve. The great news is that all that it takes to convert a messy room to a well proportioned beautifully organized one is action, pick up the laundry, take out the trash, open the window, tidy the desk, etc… If you are unsatisfied with the environment in which you’re living, only you have the power, skill, and ability to change, alter or improve it. Ask those thought producing questions of self such as what is it about me that generates this situation or brings these people into my life. What conditions can I alter by simply addressing actions, and attitudes? You see, it is what we attempt to hide inside; it is that which we deny or fail to acknowledge that is most reflective in our outside world. Do you have moments filled with unhappiness, times of chaos or is life unfulfilling, if so, it is due to the beliefs held deep within. There are many core beliefs within self that were seeded in the early stages of life that may not resonate with you today. The Law of Correspondence is a wonderful way to gauge personal authenticity, a perfect self report card. When viewed daily by connecting to emotions and feeling we have the gift to recognize the personal changes that we may make to manifest the life we truly desire. If negative thoughts are held internally, our outer world becomes tumultuous, filled with strife and ultimately becomes self fulfilling in every way. This is dangerous and may lead to increased physical distress, emotional pain and a roller coaster ride of life.

Some of these beliefs that are at the root of unhappiness were not even yours to begin with. A great example is political ideology. Do you agree and support the politics of your parents or siblings, or have you developed your own opinion based upon what resonates, feels proper, and raises your energy. Take a look at food, have you heard an interview or seen an article where an obese person has stated “I eat because I’m unhappy and I’m unhappy because I eat.” It all ends up having a direct impact on our reality.

At its simplest, if your attitude or beliefs are counter to your goals, you are in for a hard time succeeding. This is an interesting law as it works unilaterally. There is a lesser known law which states that the higher force will always overcome the lower force indicates that a small amount of mental energy will overcome a larger amount of physical energy. When these are considered together answers materialize.

To create harmony, agreement, balance and correspondence between the physical, mental and spiritual realms all that is necessary is to be consciously aware of self. Look within for this is where the answers exist.
